This guide explains how to register a third-party SIP client — a softphone or desk phone — to the Vaspian platform. If you use the Vaspian One Phone app, you don't need this guide: that app is pre-configured for you.

Before you start

You'll need the following details for the extension you want to register. If you don't have them, contact Vaspian support — for security they aren't shown in the Vaspian One Portal.

What you need Description
Extension Your extension number, e.g. 188
SIP PIN The numeric password for the extension — this is not your portal login password
SIP domain Your account's SIP domain, provided by Vaspian (format site.tenant, e.g. main.acme)

Connection settings

Enter these values in your SIP client. Field names vary by app, so the last column lists the labels you're likely to see.

Value What to enter Common field labels
Registrar / Outbound proxy sip-registrar.vaspian.com Proxy, Outbound Proxy, SIP Server, Registrar
SIP domain Your SIP domain (e.g. main.acme) Domain, SIP Domain
Username / Auth name Your extension (e.g. 188) Username, User ID, Authorization Name, Auth ID
Password Your SIP PIN Password, Auth Password
Port 5060 Port, Server Port
Transport UDP (TCP and TLS also supported) Transport, Protocol

<aside> ⚠️

Register using your SIP domain, not an IP address. sip-registrar.vaspian.com only accepts registrations that carry your account's SIP domain. Older configurations that register to a numeric IP address are not supported on this registrar.

Client walkthroughs

Verify registration

Once configured, your client should show a Registered, Ready, or green-dot status. To confirm end to end:

  1. Dial another extension — you should hear ringing and two-way audio.
  2. Place a test call to an external number.

If audio is missing in one or both directions, it's almost always a firewall/NAT issue on your network — see below.
